    PL CLUBS EYE DEMBELE

Everton and Tottenham are among a number of Premier League clubs who have expressed an interest in Fulham youngster Moussa Dembele, according to Sky sources.

But the Championship side are determined to keep the 19-year-old until the end of the season when his contract expires.

Fulham would be due compensation in the summer from whoever Dembele decides to join, agreed either privately or via tribunal, because of the forward's homegrown player status.

Want to know why the January transfer window opens on January 2 and not January 1? Of course you do...

    Here are the reasons:

There are only two games on New Year's Day this year as it's a Friday, so clubs aren't in a hurry to sign players.
The FIFA rules state the winter transfer window is supposed to last just four weeks. FIFA allow it to go on a bit longer but if a day of the extension can be cut off, it will.
The rules encourage countries to have their transfer windows at the same time - Germany and France start theirs on January 2 and England and Scotland do as well.

Harry Kane was strongly linked with Manchester United after taking the Premier League by storm last season and it shouldn't come as a surprise to see some of the league's top teams among the favourites to capture Leicester goal-machine Jamie Vardy in the January window. He's long odds-on to stay at the King Power Stadium but Chelsea head the list of suitors, according to the bookies, with the Blues at 6/1 following a miserable first half to their title defence.

The Blues sacked Jose Mourinho after picking up just four wins from their first 16 top-flight games and goals have been at a premium. With so much creativity in midfield, the tireless Vardy could be the perfect addition to their squad given Diego Costa and Loic Remy's struggles this term.

Liverpool are considered 14/1 shots to sign Vardy and the red-hot striker's willingness to close down defenders and chase apparent lost causes has no doubt caught the eye of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp. Tottenham, whose reliance on Kane has been in evidence again throughout the campaign, are next in the betting at 18/1, while a toothless Man United are 25/1 and Arsenal are 33/1 to bolster their ranks with the signing of Vardy.

    CITY'S JANUARY PLANS

Manuel Pellegrini was quizzed about his January transfer window plans in his pre-Watford press conference, including whether he was interested in Real Madrid midfielder Isco.

Pellegrini said: “I think the squad is complete, as I have said we are not going to close the window. But we are not really thinking of any special player to bring in.”

When asked about City’s reported interest in Isco, Pellegrini said: “I always answer the same, I don’t talk about rumours. I am only thinking about our squad at the moment.”

    WILLIAMSON IN WOLVES TALKS

Kenny Jackett had said he wants to bring Mike Williamson back to Wolves and it seems like he might get his wish.

Sky sources understand the player is discussing personal terms with a fee of 250,000 for a permanent deal from Newcastle.

Williamson had a five-game loan spell at Wolves this season before being recalled.
