MK Dons manager Karl Robinson says he won't spend money this January if it means jeopardising the club. Robinson has been assured by his chairman that money is available to help the club stave off relegation from the Championship.

But speaking after MK Dons' 1-1 draw with Leeds, Robinson said he refused the backing: “I had a long chat with the chairman and he said money would be there, but I said no," Robinson said.

"It may have to come out of next year’s budget and I won’t put my club in jeopardy. We’ve been at a club today that knows all about the pitfalls of overspending."

The manager also confirmed Diego Poyet will head back to West Ham after cutting short his season-long loan at Stadium mk.
