Third seed Simona Halep eased into the second round of the Hungarian Grand Prix with a straight-sets win over Sesil Karatantcheva.

The Romanian, who won her first two WTA titles in June, took a topsy-turvy opening set 6-3 before claiming the second 6-0 to claim victory in under an hour.

It was a good day for the seeded players as they all earned wins in their first-round matches.

Fourth seed Annika Beck stormed to a 6-1 6-2 victory over Tadeja Majeric while fifth seed Johanna Larsson was a 6-2 7-5 winner against Lara Arruabarrena.

Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor, seeded seven, also progressed as she beat Russian Nina Bratchikova 6-1 7-5 and Hungarian wildcard Agnes Butka beat Sandra Zahlavova 6-1 4-6 7-6 (7/4).
